A Maverick Climate Policy

Today's online American Spectator brings us this compelling article by William Yeatman of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, A Maverick Climate Policy.
McCain, who once admitted that he "doesn't really understand economics," claimed the solution to the "looming threat" of climate change is to "unleash the power and innovation of the marketplace."

Unfortunately, McCain's plan fails to free anything. In fact, his big government climate policy would mitigate not global warming but economic growth.

Yeatman proceeds to lay out a number of alternative measures which, he explains, would actually increase the nation's energy efficiency without growing the government and crippling the economy.

It's hard to argue with his facts or his logic. Let's hope that he can somehow get Sen. McCain's attention.
