"George Orwell, in his vision of 1984, got it backward. We do not have to fear Big Brother watching us on TV. In times like these, we have to fear the effects of our watching Big Brother."

"Inoculated against what?" you may ask. Inoculated against leftist lunacy! As a proud member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy, I am, and perhaps, with time and study, you can be, too. This blog covers whatever the team members feel like writing about. My own interests include many areas --- animals, the veterinary profession, the U.S. Navy, conservatism, sourdough baking, computing (Windows and Linux), music, humor, quotations, gas prices, and anything else that catches my attention.

This is SO right, Mort! I don't know how long you've had the BB TV phenomena in USA but we've had it just long enough in the UK to turn certain sectors of society into brainless idiots!
ReplyDeleteMary, over here, they're more likely to be watching "American Idol" or "Dancing with the Stars," but the mind-numbing effect is exactly the same. It's junk food for the mind.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the UK (and most of Europe, I think) has that sort of thing as well; Dancing On Ice, Strictly Come Dancing and Pop Idol. Anything that has tenuous connections with "media celebrities" commands an instant sheep-like following. However, over here in Europe the UK seems to have been most influenced by the media and the results are not pleasant.
ReplyDeleteHistory repeats itself. During the 1930s, Winston Churchill tried to warn the UK, but nobody would listen until it was too late to prevent disaster. Now, there's Daniel Hannan. Will the citizens heed his warnings in time? So far, sadly, there doesn't seem to be much indication that they will.
ReplyDeleteWe in the US, with the Obamessiah and his legions of myrmidons, are not far behind.
